Etta James (born Jamesetta Hawkins; January 25, 1938 – January 20, 2012). One of my favorite soul singers. Most known for her hit “At Last”. Its a song she has been on record saying she hated, because of the ‘sweetning’ (violins, upright bass) they added to the song. Her voice was powerful, gritty, soul stirring. I find it hard to believe you could listen to one of her songs and NOT be moved!!
